Abstract: The need for rural road infrastructure arises from the fact that there is a greater need for rural accessibility and smooth movement of agricultural produces especially from the rural areas to market centers or township center. This study was conducted to reveal the impacts of rural roads on agricultural development. The study area was st ratified into two sub – townships lamine , developed area in term of roads connectivity and accessibility and kawzar, remote area relatively poor roads connectivity and accessibility. Beta, alpha and gamma indexes were used to determine the level of roads co nnectivity of each sub – township. Using households’ surveyed data from 120 rural dwellers, this study examined the impacts of rural roads on agricultural land use, change in yields of selected crops and influence in agricultural marketing. The results indic ate that rural roads have a significant positive impact on paddy yield , agriculture inputs used, agricultural marketing, reduce transportation cost, stimulate demand for rural labo r and improve agricultural profits and household income . However, the result s show that rural roads have not impacted on agricultural land use and the production of plantation trees rubber and betel nut. Poor roads quality limits the agricultural development and also, it reduces household income. From the finding it is recommende d that to sustain the already existing roads transportation network in lamine for sustaining agricultural development and to improved feeder road which connects kawzar to major highway and to rehabilitee the rural roads network of kawzar to boost agricultu ral development.
