30 September 2026, AIT— The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group III gathers at AIT for the 7th Cycle of IPCC WGIII AR7 meeting from 28 September to 02 October 2026 to prepare the Seventh Assessment Report AR7.
Taking this opportunity, the Faculty of Public Policy and Sustainable Development (FPSD) in collaboration with the  South and South East Asia Multidisciplinary Applied Research Network on Transforming Societies of Global South (SMARTS Center), hosted an Interactive 1-hour PUBLIC MEETING with the IPCC Working Group III Co-Chairs. Held as part of the IPCC Seventh Assessment Cycle (AR7), this key side event was convened to give insights to the AIT community and students on how global climate experts discuss critical climate change mitigation strategies and summarizes the global state of knowledge on climate change, its environmental and socio-economic impacts, and future risks in the form of a comprehensive IPCC Assessment Report.






Distinguished speakers Prof. Joy Jacqueline Pereira and Dr. Katherine Calvin, Co-Chairs of IPCC Working Group III, highlighted the major goals of AR7. They emphasized expanding diversity and strengthening research capacity through regional scientific networks to ensure local perspectives from the Asia-Pacific and Global South are meaningfully integrated into global climate policy.
The event commenced with an opening remarks from Prof. Joyashree Roy, Founding Director of the SMARTS Center. A public forum quickly followed moderated by FPSD Dean Assoc. Prof. Thi Phuoc Lai Nguyen.
