Abstract: Social services provided for the Intimate Partner Violence victims are insufficient in Myanmar. Moreover, there was no research for the assessment of these existing services. This research tries to explore the service availability for the IPV victims, the victims‟ access to these services and the effectiveness of these existing services targeting the Northern District of Yangon as a study area. The constraints in providing services by the service providers and the barriers of the victims to access these existing services were also identified in this study.Qualitative research type was chosen for this research. As primary data, key-informant interview with ten service providers and in-depth interview with twenty intimate partner violence victims were conducted in this study. Secondary data were also collected from related government andnon-government organizations. Observation was also added in the interviews with respondents. Qualitative data analysis was used based on the both of primary and secondary data.IPV victims approached different service providers for their different needs. The main service providing organization which solves IPV case is MWAF. This study mainly focuses on the MWAF services as the victims were selected from MWAF‟s list. The other service providers were also conducted for this study because most of the victims approached more than one service agencies or organizations. Community committees, the police, lawyers and medical doctors were also the related service providers of IPV cases. Victims went to MWAF as MWAF mostly solved for IPV cases with free of charges. They went to community committees because community committees are the nearest authorized organizations in their community. They requested help from police tostop their partners‟ violence. They approached lawyers when their cases needed to be solved legally.
