Abstract: This study explores shared parenting dynamics among Indian couples in India and Canada, emphasizing the impact of socio-cultural beliefs, support systems, and parental leave policies. Findings reveal persistent gender roles, with mothers often assuming primary caregiving roles despite shared domestic responsibilities. While there’s a positive shift in mindset, some mothers still view partner involvement as fortunate, reflecting gender disparities. Fathers in both countries actively participate in childcare, influenced by attitudes, experiences, and shared understanding. Support systems play a crucial role, with extended family aiding Indian parents, while Canadian immigrants face challenges building networks. Parental leave policies have limited impact, with fathers in Canada hesitant to use paternity leave.
