Abstract: Nowadays, ageing population impacts on many areas of development and the potentiality of states, communities and families to provide resources for the elderly. Therefore, the nation should actively recognize these impacts to adjust policies to cope with aging society. This study purpose is to propose policies recommendation to improve subjective well-being (SWB) for the elderly in the rural areas of Thailand by investigating current policies and policy gaps for rural elderly people, status the current SWB’s status and how it varies between women and men, and factors influencing the SWB. The data were collected in Kham Thao subdistrict Non-Sung district which located in Nakhon Ratchasima province. Most of the respondents were of age 60 and above, the result showed that the Health care policies is successful in enabling all the elderly persons to access health care service. However, the elderly persons seem to live independent life without any essence of group but they still search for desirable jobs that can provide higher income for better quality of life such as establish community group enterprise but it failed. In addition, the analyzed results showed that the three lowest rank on the SWB of rural elderly comprises of standard of living, quality of life, and economic development respectively. Moreover, men had higher SWB and Quality of life compared to women. Therefore, the government should seriously pay attention to intensive social and economic development such as gender inequality reduction, enhancing social network and generating more jobs for general people and older people in the society.
