Abstract: An evaluation of two privately developed housing projects in Bangkok is made in terms of residential sati sfaction with various aspects of the housing environment. It was found that the main sources of satisfaction common to both estates were privacy, absence of smoke and odors, neighbours, etc . which are related to something like the comfortability of the neighbourhood. On the other hand, the main sources of dissatisfaction common to the two surveyed estates were children’s playgrounds, recreational facilities, etc. which relate to public space. As a result of factor analysis, five components common to the two estates, influencing residential satisfaction were identified.
