Abstract: The study is aimed at presen ting· a process by which land an important fac tor of production is assessed in terms of its suitabilit y to crops and the profitallility of such crops. It also addressed a key issue in the study ar ea, Gaeng Hang Maew , which is water supply . The first portion of the research concentrated on the review of the physical ch aract eristics of the area in t erms of slope , g·eology and soil according· to s usceptibility to eros ion . In addition focus was given to the limitations of the soil types and the crops suitable to t hem The land usage was also examined using da ta drawn from the maps which were prepared by using· the AUTOCAD software . The informa tion from the above then allowed the delineation of the area into three zones . The service area of the natural waterways and the capacity of the existing and proposed reservoirs were likewise assessed. It was found out that only a third of the study area utilized for agTiculture is served. Key economic paramet er s such as prices, costs, labor etc., which are related to productivity wer e also rev iewed. The intention is to find out which of th e crops found s uitable under each zone delineated are profitable. The study continued with the evaluation of these crops suitable in terms of water needs and profitability based on an income of 60,000 Baht per farm family. It was learned that different land sizes ancl investments are necessary for specific land conditions . The research was completed by integTating· findings into the zones established.
