Abstract: One of the importance for regional development is to be familiar with the nature or characteristics of each region through a precise description of the regional system which has the various aspects. The objectives of this study focus on presenting macro description of regions by .means of statistical methods and giving one material to policy decision making with full consideration of regional characteristics. In spite of the strict limitations of data, the regional characteristics could be extracted. They can be explained by three main components: 1) agriculture or non-agriculture oriented activities, 2) land use intensity, 3) government finance. could be discriminated about its economic structure. Any region In other words, the role of each region was determined. Through some correlative analyses, the causality among the conditions in a region was not define well but the macro description of regions will be useful to concisely explain regional growth or activities. Considering regional growth, we can pay attention to the change of economic structure. It was difficult to explain some variables such as population growth, unemployment, and urban activity which seemed the most effective to understand the regional growth. The main reason was that data about economic factors were lacking.
