Abstract: Resettlement project has been planned to be one of the most important programmes to development project upon the evacuees perceptions and their living conditions was scarcely paid much attention by the concerned agencies. The major objectives of the resettlement project in Thailand are to relocate or resettle the affected households on the properly living areas and to utilize the settled land area for a particular purpose. The misunderstanding and mismatch between the responsible agencies and the local villagers often lead the people to campaign. The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) has been solving these problems. However, it was widely overlooked in the past schemes regarding to the villagers’ satisfaction, preferences, priorities and the gender specific issues. This study, hence, focused on investigating the resettled households’ satisfaction with respect to provision of physical infrastructures and social facilities, on assessing the relocating households’ priorities and felt needs, and on analysing the differences in reactions by individuals of either gender. The findings presented the need to improve the quality of the road and water supply in the resettled areas. The first two priorities of social facilities rated by the relocating households were school and health service station. The study included recommendations for both evacuees and responsible agencies to promote measures to motivate the affected villagers to be more willing to be evacuated.
