Abstract: Ayeyarwaddy Division is the most severely Cyclone Nargis hit area in 2nd and 3rd of May 2008. This study makes an attempt to explore the socio-economic impact, assessing loss of assets in households and measuring their satisfaction level on aid agencies in the context of Cyclone Nargis. The study highlights the problems and needs of affected households in different economic sectors. The field survey was conducted in November 2008 after seven months of Cyclone Nargis in Labutta Township. Primary data was collected through key informant interviews and questionnaire survey. The sample size was 73 households out of 1448 in Labutta Township representing 5% of total population of the study area. Descriptive statistical techniques such as frequency, percentage, average and weighted average index were used to access socio-economic impact, degree of satisfaction and degree of demand for economic aspects. Millions of people have been helped, but many still need more assistance to build permanent housing, access clean water, purchase equipment for fishing, and agriculture. In order to understand the pre-Nargis diversification of activities, income sources, and coping mechanisms, this report can identify best approaches to help people vulnerability reduction and rebuild their livelihoods, while respecting the pre-Nargis balance
