Abstract: The research examined the performance of the middle school teachers in rural area. The main objective of this study is to assess the performance of the middle school teachers in rural area. This study investigated the accessibility of schools infrastructure and facilities in rural school, and satisfaction of the teachers on them. Moreover, the research assessed the way teacher prepare the lessons for students, manage the class, the method teachers applied during their lesson delivery. The data of students result was analyzed to know the outcome level of students through the teachers’ performance. The research also identified the problems and needs of the teachers and examined how those problems impact on performance of the teacher as well. The research was conducted three middle schools in rural area of Maubin Township, Ayeyarwaddy Region using a survey questionnaire with a total of 37 teachers and 48 Grade – 9 students for primary data. Moreover, in order to get deep information, interview with principal and focus group discussion with teachers and students were implemented. The research was focused on quantitative analysis but qualitative technique was also applied. The satisfaction level of teachers on school facilities and infrastructures was neutral. Poor infrastructure of the school and lack of facilities was major problem in study area and which were impact on the performance of the teachers. The result of the students was linked with the background qualification of the teachers and the teaching method teachers used during delivery of the lessons. Most of the teachers focus on completion of the lessons. Teachers were able to apply teaching aids for some time due to the lack of accessibility.
