Abstract: The research deals with the performance assessment of the agricultural land reform cooperative activities in the central plain of Thailand. The general objective of the research is to assess the performance of the BALRC in generating viable benefits to local members in land reform area in Thailand. The specific objectives were to review and examine the current performance of the BALRC to assess the performances of cooperative and members in their participation in the BALRC activities to obtain member in terms of benefits and satisfactions on the BALRC activities to identify factors associating with the performance of the BALRC and their members and identify problems and potentials and to suggest recommendations to improve the performance of the BALRC and provided policy implications in future. The performance of the cooperative was focused in shareholdings, savings, credit and purchasing activities of chemical fertilizer and rice. The financial performance of the cooperative was examined for ten fiscal years from 1994 to 2003. The research was conducted in the land reform area of Buddhamonthon district of Nakhon Pathom Province in the Central Plain of Thailand. The research was a survey design using primarily quantitative analysis. Main findings of the research showed that the financial performance of the cooperative was poor due to insufficient working capital on various financial activities and a large amount of loan repayment to external financial sources. The limitations of the internal capital generation were due to limited participation of the members in various financial activities and the increment of non-productive loan of the members. The cooperative had been facing with severe deficits with no dividend were provided to its members for many years. The members perceived the low degree of benefits, satisfactions and the effectiveness of various cooperative’s activities as well as managerial skills of the local committee.
