Abstract: Attitudes and opinions of the local leaders and officials involved in the early stages of the Quality of Life Mass Campaign Project were studied in Maha-Sarakham Province. Most of the respondents believe that this project can help the rural people to achieve greater self-reliance through self-help and analysis of development in their villages. Basic needs and solutions to problems are identified by the villagers themselves. It was observed that the knowledge and understanding of the officers and the local leaders was improved by training provided in the project. However, both training and information dissemination should be further improved if financial means can be made available.
