Abstract: Thailand has emphasized the significance of youth development and includes this component into social development strategies that outlines various perspectives in national and local development. Rural ruffian gangsters have received much attention due to their violent behaviors causing substantial family and community impacts that are taken into account for youth development perspective at present. Main objectives of the research were to describe a formation of RRG, to study motivation and behavior of RRG, to analyze factors of participation in RRG, to assess the impacts of RRG and to suggest remedies and implications for rural youth development. The study was conducted in two villages namely Ban Noi Pattana and Ban Mai Ampawan, of Tamianchai sub – district, Lamplaimat district of Buriram province in the northeast of Thailand . It is an exploratory research which is primarily focused of a survey design with the support of some case studies applying both primary and secondary data sources. Data collection methods included household survey, field observation, group discussion and interviews employing primarily quantitative analysis with supplement of qualitati ve explanations. The study discovered that the problems of RRG have been existed in the study area for quite a long time. They actively gathered to perform both creative and anti – social behaviors in connection to illegal activities in local community. The RRG has been formed into a gang which created several violent behaviors and crimes related to drug, violence and destroying public property. Risk group of RRG members were from age between 12
