From Frontlines to Global Stages: AIT Master’s Student Aye Yeik Htin Champions Girls’ Education and SRHR at Women Deliver 2026
MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – Ms. Aye Yeik Htin, a current Master’s student in the Gender and Development Studies (GDS) program at the Faculty of Public Policy and Sustainable Development (FPSD), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) was recently a featured speaker at a side event at the prestigious Women Deliver Conference 2026, held from 27-30 April 2026 in Narrm (Melbourne), Australia.
A High-Profile Dialogue on Girls’ Education
Ms. Htin contributed her expertise to a high-level dialogue convened by World Vision International titled, “Keeping Girls in School: Strengthening Education Systems at the Intersection of SRHR”. The dialogue utilized a socio-ecological model to map how girls’ education outcomes are shaped by interconnected layers – moving from individual lived experiences in crisis zones to community programming, civil society advocacy, and global institutional partnerships.
Bringing Frontline Expertise to the Global Stage
Ms. Htin attended the conference as a youth delegate under Asian Pacific Resource and Research Centre for Women (ARROW) as part of the sponsored Myanmar delegation. As a side event facilitator, Ms. Htin contributed in driving discussions on the critical intersection of girls’ education, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and humanitarian assistance in crisis contexts.
Drawing from nearly five years of professional experience working in refugee camps and humanitarian settings, Ms. Htin presented vital frontline insights. She bridged grassroots field evidence with global frameworks to highlight localized challenges in conflict and displacement settings.
Enriching Academic Research at AIT
This global engagement directly supports Ms. Htin’s ongoing academic focus on gender mainstreaming within humanitarian frameworks, which she is pursuing under the supervision of her advisor Dr. Duanghathai Buranajaroenkij. The profound insights gained at the Women Deliver 2026 regarding socio-ecological vulnerabilities, structural barriers to education, and localized community responses offer invaluable global and regional context. This experience will undoubtedly enrich her ongoing research on displacement, protection, and gender-transformative assistance along border and crisis-affected regions.
